Goose made their debut at Radio City Music Hall in New York this weekend with a pair of sold-out shows. Both evenings featured three sets: an opening acoustic set followed by two electric sets, each with sit-ins from some of the biggest names in the jamband, jazz and folk scenes.
Their opening show on Friday featured songs off Goose’s latest LP, Dripfield and welcomed special guests Stuart Bogie, Dave Nelson and Dripfield producer D. James Goodwin. Saturday’s show was especially hyped up as rumors of a sit-in from Phish’s Trey Anastasio spread like wildfire over social media.
The rumors ended up being true, and Saturday saw Anastasio join Goose on their beloved song “Arcadia.” The performance also featured Father John Misty causally joining the Connecticut-bred jamband on his song “I’m Writing a Novel” – which Goose has covered often, to the delight of fans. Saturday’s set closed with an encore of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows,” during which Goose, Father John Misty and Anastasio showcased their distinct and shared psychedelic musical inclinations, influences and onstage chemistry.
